The Haryana government’s Department of Social Justice, Empowerment, Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backwards Classes and Antyodaya (SEWA) has implemented the Dr. Ambedkar Medhavi Chhatravritti Sanshodhit Yojana for the academic year 2026-27. The scheme aims to support meritorious students from economically weaker sections. Eligible students can apply online from August 17 to November 30, 2026, on the Saral Haryana portal (saralharyana.gov.in). The scheme is designed to encourage academic excellence among students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Backwards Classes, Vimukt Jatis, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, and Tapriwas communities.

Who can apply and what are the eligibility criteria?

District Welfare Officer Rakesh Kumar said that for applying under this scheme, the student must be a permanent resident of Haryana. The annual family income should not exceed Rs 4 lakh. Additionally, the student must have passed the previous class and taken regular admission to the next class. The scheme is available for students from Class 11 up to the postgraduate level.

Students from Scheduled Castes, Vimukt Jatis, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Tapriwas Communities, Backwards Classes (Block ‘A’ and ‘B’), and General Category are eligible to apply.

Different minimum marks for urban and rural students

Different minimum marks have been set for urban and rural students for eligibility. For students from Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes (Block ‘A’), Nomadic, Vimukt Jatis, and Tapriwas communities, the minimum marks required in Class 10 are 70 per cent for urban areas and 60 per cent for rural areas. For Class 12, the requirement is 75 per cent for urban and 70 per cent for rural students. At the graduation level, 65 per cent marks are required for urban and 60 per cent for rural students.

For students from Backward Classes (Block ‘B’) and other social categories, the minimum marks required in Class 10 are 80 per cent for urban areas and 75 per cent for rural areas.

Scholarship amount ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000

Under the scheme, an annual scholarship ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000 will be given according to different categories and academic levels. Students from Backward Classes (Block ‘A’) and Backward Classes (Block ‘B’) who have passed matriculation are given a scholarship of Rs 8,000. Meritorious students from other social categories are also given a scholarship of Rs 8,000, the same as Backward Classes (Block ‘B’). For higher classes, this amount increases up to Rs 12,000. The scholarship amount will be sent directly to the applicant’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

How to apply: Step-by-step guide

  1. First, go to the Saral Haryana portal (saralharyana.gov.in).
  2. Click on ‘Register Here’ on the portal and complete the registration by filling in the required details.
  3. After registration, log in using the ID and password received.
  4. After logging in, click on the ‘Dr. Ambedkar Medhavi Chhatra Sanshodhit Yojana’ option.
  5. Click on ‘Apply Online’.
  6. Fill the application form carefully and upload all required documents.

What documents are required for application?

The following documents must be uploaded with the application:

  • Scanned copy of Caste Certificate.
  • Bank account details (passbook/cheque).
  • Self-attested marksheet (for the class for which scholarship is being claimed).
  • Income certificate (valid for the current year).
  • Proof of current admission (with principal’s signature and stamp).
  • Haryana residence certificate.
