In a surprising turn of events, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal announced his decision to resign from the top ministerial position, mere days after being released on bail in the Delhi Excise Policy case. Social activist Anna Hazare, who had previously worked closely with Kejriwal, has now reacted to this development, saying that he had warned the AAP leader not to enter politics in the first place.

Speaking to the media from his hometown in Ralegan-Siddhi, Maharashtra, Anna Hazare expressed his disappointment with Kejriwal’s decision to step down as Delhi CM. He mentioned that he had repeatedly advised Kejriwal to continue serving society instead of entering politics, as he believed that social service would bring greater happiness to the people.

I told him since the beginning that you should not join politics but serve the people. We have worked together for many years and told him the same thing. He never listened to me and today what had to happen has happened, Hazare said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

The social activist further elaborated, I repeatedly told Kejriwal not to go into politics. Serve society, and you will become a great man. We were together for many years, and during that time, I often told him that social service gives happiness.

Hazare also expressed his confusion over Kejriwal’s decision, saying, Increase happiness, but he did not take those words to heart. Today, what was bound to happen has happened. How would I know what is truly in his heart?

This is not the first time that Anna Hazare has reacted to developments concerning Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier, when Kejriwal was arrested in the Delhi Excise Policy case, Hazare had expressed his disappointment, saying, I am very upset that Arvind Kejriwal, who worked with me and raised his voice against liquor, is now making liquor policies. His arrest is because of his own deeds.

Kejriwal’s Resignation Announcement

In a dramatic move, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that he will resign from his post in two days and will demand early elections in the national capital. He vowed not to occupy the CM’s chair until the people give him a certificate of honesty.

Kejriwal, who was released on bail from Tihar Jail in the excise policy corruption case, stated, I will only sit in the CM’s chair after people give me a certificate of honesty. I want to undergo an ‘agnipariksha’ after coming out of jail.

Until the elections are held, there will be someone else as CM. Both Manish Sisodia and I will not take up the position of Chief Minister, Kejriwal added.

Reactions from Political Parties

The news of Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation has sparked reactions from various political parties. CPI leader D Raja, in an exclusive interview with News18, shared his thoughts on the matter.

Meanwhile, the BJP has also responded to Kejriwal’s announcement. In a video uploaded on YouTube, a BJP spokesperson can be seen discussing the implications of the AAP leader’s decision to step down as Delhi CM.
