Arvind Kejriwal Slams Centre, Calls It More Dictatorial Than British Rule in First Speech After Getting Bail

In his first speech after being released from jail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the Centre, accusing it of being more dictatorial than the British rule. Speaking to a crowd of supporters, Kejriwal vowed to continue his fight against anti-national forces working to weaken the nation, asserting that his incarceration has only strengthened his resolve.

Kejriwal held a roadshow from Chandgiram Akhara to his official residence after being released from the Tihar Jail, where he had been lodged in connection with the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy case. The Supreme Court granted him bail on Friday, ruling that his prolonged imprisonment constituted an unjust deprivation of liberty.

Kejriwal Alleges Centre Wants to Crush AAP

In his speech, Kejriwal singled out Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah as the driving forces behind the BJP’s alleged attempts to crush the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He claimed that the BJP changes chief ministers in many states before assembly elections to clip their wings and that PM Modi will attack BJP leaders next.

They want to crush us, but the Aam Aadmi Party is an idea. It will keep growing the more they try to finish us, Kejriwal said, adding that the Centre’s actions are more dictatorial than the British rule.

Kejriwal Alleges Pattern of Attacks on Opposition-ruled States

Kejriwal alleged that there is a pattern to the BJP’s attacks on opposition-ruled states, claiming that the party jails all chief ministers in such states and overthrows the government. He pointed to how Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was also hounded by central agencies, allegedly at the behest of the central government.

If the BJP comes to power again, the first thing PM Modi will do is to change Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Kejriwal said, adding that the politics of several BJP leaders has been finished and that Yogi Adityanath is next.

Kejriwal Accuses Centre of Targeting AAP Leaders

Kejriwal accused the Centre of targeting AAP leaders, saying that the Prime Minister left no stone unturned to crush the party and sent four leaders to jail at the same time. He claimed that the BJP’s mission is called One Nation, One Leader.

By arresting me, they have given a message that if Kejriwal is arrested then they will arrest anyone. The name of this mission is ‘One Nation, One Leader’, he said, alluding to the BJP’s push for the ‘one nation, one election’ system.

Kejriwal Thanks Supreme Court for Granting Bail

Kejriwal thanked the Supreme Court for granting him bail, which will allow him to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls. However, he is not allowed to go to his office, sign official documents, or visit the Delhi secretariat without permission from the Lieutenant Governor.

The Supreme Court said the Lok Sabha elections have prompted the consideration of interim bail, as at this stage, it is not possible for the court to either conclude the arguments or pronounce the verdict on his petition challenging his arrest by the ED.

In conclusion, Arvind Kejriwal’s first speech after being released from jail was a fiery attack on the Centre, accusing it of being more dictatorial than the British rule. He vowed to continue his fight against anti-national forces and alleged that the BJP is targeting opposition-ruled states and AAP leaders in a bid to consolidate power.
